Description

The rehabilitation of degraded road sections of the Douala-N’Djamena corridor is a vast undertaking led by the Government of Cameroon with the support of several TFPs such as the World Bank and the Chinese Cooperation Agency, respectively, on the Mora-Kousseri and Yaoundé-Douala sections. Other partners are in the process of being mobilised, specifically the French Development Agency and the European Union for the rehabilitation of the sections between Douala, Yaoundé and Bertoua. The total cost of this programme, limited to the Ngaoundéré-Garoua road section (240.85 km), net of taxes and customs duties (NTCD) and including physical and financial contingencies, is estimated at EUR 340.678 million of which EUR 238.475 million in foreign exchange and EUR 102.203 million in local currency equivalent to 223.470 billion CFA francs. The programme will be financed by the Bank for a total amount equivalent to EUR 331.488 million. The Bank's contribution to the financing of the project will be in the form of: (i) an AfDB loan of EUR 318.24 million; (ii) an ADF loan of EUR 12.24 million and (iii) a NEPAD-IPPF Grant of USD 1.004 million equivalent to EUR 1.008 million, the appraisal process of which is underway at the Bank. This project primely contributes towards climate adaptation result. As such 100% of the total approval is attributed as climate finance, out of which USD 84 million is adaptation finance and USD 3 million is mitigation.
