Description

The Project to Develop Access Roads to the Industrial and Port Area of Kribi (PARZIK) comprises (i) road works (rehabilitation and upgrading of 110 km of the Edéa –Kribi section and 39 km of the Lolabé –Campo –Cross-border bridge with Equatorial Guinea over the Ntem River section, the construction phase of which is expected to be presented to the Bank’s Board of Directors in 2023); (ii) a major component dedicated to socio-economic activities that are likely to heighten the socio-economic impact, reduce pockets of fragility and gender imbalances in the project impact area; and (iii) related measures intended to facilitate mobility, improve security and mitigate the negative impact of increased traffic in and around the complex as well as transit activities in the area’s localities. The project is expected to be implemented over seven years (2021-2028) and is estimated to cost 182.118million Units of Account (UA). It will be co-financed by (i) the Bank through twoADB loans totalling UA 130 million; and (ii) counterpart contribution of UA52.118million. Given the macroeconomic context and within the limits consistent with the country’s debt sustainability level, the Government wants the Bank’s financing commitment to be in two phases (UA 96.540 million in 2021 and UA 33.460 million in 2022).
