Sudan - Integrated Social Sector Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project - Health, Education, Drinking Water and Sanitation

The Sudan Integrated Social Sector Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project, designated under the acronym SISSIRP, constitutes a major humanitarian and social development initiative aimed at improving living conditions and resilience of Sudanese populations in the context of an acute humanitarian crisis. This integrated multi-sectoral project responds to urgent basic social infrastructure needs through coordinated and integrated support in the critical sectors of health, education and skills development, drinking water, and sanitation. The initiative combines emergency response for infrastructure rehabilitation and equipment to meet immediate needs with capacity building of social systems to support long-term development and strengthen the resilience of vulnerable communities. The total project cost amounts to 45.82 million Units of Account, equivalent to 62.13 million US dollars, entirely financed by the African Development Bank. This financial package consists of 12.95 million Units of Account from the African Development Fund and 32.87 million Units of Account from the Transition Support Facility Pillar 1 in grant form. The financing represents a one hundred percent commitment from the Bank, demonstrating the strategic importance accorded to this initiative in the context of Sudan's political transition and stabilization, as well as the institutional commitment to effectively respond to the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
