The proposed project is an important contribution to the implementation of the Strategy for Accelerated Growth and Shared Prosperity (SCAPP) covering the period 2016-2030 and the National Strategy for Sustainable Access to Water and Sanitation (SNADEA) by 2030. Its implementation will enable five (5) urban centres to have updated sanitation master plans and studies to carry out investments in the field of sanitation and the recovery of its by-products. The implementation of the planned investments will contribute to the improvement of the health situation of the targeted populations and to food security. The project activities are organised around three components. The first component relates to the preparation of bankable investment projects. The second component concerns the establishment of an enabling environment for the improvement of sanitation services while the last component relates to the management of the project. The overall budget is estimated at EUR 896,000, financed by the AWF to the tune of EUR 793,000 and by the Government of Mauritania for an amount equivalent to EUR 103,000. The estimated duration of the project is 24 months.
