Umeme Ltd is a Uganda-based electricity distribution company listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange and cross-listed in Nairobi. Under its long-running concession, the company operated, maintained, upgraded, and commercialized Uganda's electricity distribution network, including customer connections, metering, billing, revenue collection, outage response, network maintenance, and customer-service activities. Its mandate covered distribution infrastructure at medium and low voltage, retail electricity supply, prepaid metering through Yaka, and support for industrial, commercial, household, and public-lighting customers. The company's business has been closely linked to Uganda's power-sector reform model, regulated tariffs, energy losses, collection rates, grid investment, electricity demand growth, and government concession arrangements. Because the concession reached its planned endpoint and distribution responsibilities have transitioned back to the public distribution company, analysis of Umeme now requires attention to residual cash flows, settlement mechanisms, shareholder distributions, regulatory obligations, and any future strategic direction. Historically, the issuer provided direct exposure to Uganda's electricity distribution infrastructure and grid commercialization.
