Description
The Niumi–Hakalang roads, built of gravel in the 1970s, were in disrepair, hindering access to health facilities, schools, markets, and social functions. The Government of The Gambia is funding the 86 km upgrade, including Buniadu–Kuntaya (55.7 km), Albreda–Fass Omar Sahor (15.1 km), and Banghaly–Medina Bafuloto (13.6 km), with bituminous pavement, shoulders, drainage, road furniture, and safety equipment. The project improves rural access, economic opportunities, and reduces transport costs, at GMD 1,447,150,843.85.
