Overview

The Abidjan Urban Transport Project (PTUA) is an infrastructure programme intended to improve mobility across Greater Abidjan, reduce road congestion and strengthen urban traffic management. The component corresponding to AfDB project P-CI-D00-004 was approved in December 2016 and includes the Fourth Abidjan Bridge and its approaches, together with interventions on the road network and traffic-management systems.

The wider PTUA programme also comprises urban expressways, interchanges, junction upgrades and traffic-management equipment. African Development Bank documents distinguish the initial P-CI-D00-004 project from Phase 2, which is recorded separately as P-CI-D00-010. The financial data for these two operations are therefore not combined here.

The latest available implementation assessment for P-CI-D00-004 is based on a mission conducted from 29 September to 15 October 2025 and a report dated 24 November 2025. The Bank continues to list the project as ongoing. In August 2026, Côte d'Ivoire's infrastructure ministry still presented PTUA as a structuring urban-mobility programme with delivered works and further implementation prospects.
