Tous les téléphones, tablettes et autres terminaux mobiles non dédouanés à l’entrée au Cameroun après le 1 er avril 2026 seront bloqués à compter du 1 er septembre 2026. Telle est la quintessence d’un communiqué publié le 20 août 2026 par le ministre des Finances, Louis Paul Motazé. La mesure, précise le membre du gouvernement, s’applique aux « téléphones non dédouanés qui se connecteront pour la première fois à un réseau local de télécommunication, aux téléphones non dédouanés qui, s’étant connectés après le 1 er avril 2026, ont reçu des messages d’informations et d’alerte restés sans suite, aux téléphones non dédouanés qui, activés de façon groupés par la même carte SIM après le 1 er avril 2026, n’ont plus fait l’objet d’une utilisation continue ».…

Cameroon imported more fish and milk powder in 2025 despite a government program designed to increase domestic production and reduce reliance on foreign supplies, highlighting the gap between the country’s import-substitution targets and results on the ground. Fish and crustacean imports climbed 29% to 267,601 metric tons from 207,408 tons a year earlier, according to provisional data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS). The bill rose even faster, increasing 37.8% to CFA231.3 billion. Imports of powdered or concentrated milk increased 8% to 17,880 tons from 16,555 tons. Their value, however, fell 1.2% to CFA32.8 billion.…

Une nouvelle fuite de données personnelles a été mise en ligne sur le réseau social Telegram, lundi 24 août. D’après les informations du « Monde », elle serait l’œuvre de cinq anciens agents de la direction générale de la surveillance du territoire exilés en Europe. Data now accounts for more than half of MTN Cameroon’s service revenue, underscoring a shift in the telecom operator’s business toward internet services as it commits a growing share of capital to support network demand. Data revenue reached 3.45 billion rand in the first half of 2026, or about CFA120.3 billion based on MTN’s average exchange rate for the period, according to half-year results released Aug. 24. It represented 50.8% of the company’s service revenue, up from 45.3% a year earlier. Canyon Resources has dropped its target for the first bauxite exports from Cameroon’s Minim-Martap deposit after AFG Bank Cameroon suspended further loan disbursements, adding a new financing hurdle to unresolved logistics that have repeatedly delayed the project. The Australian junior miner disclosed the change in an update published Aug. 24. The announcement prompted the Australian Securities Exchange to immediately reinstate trading in Canyon shares, which the company had voluntarily suspended on Aug. 20 while it prepared further information on Minim-Martap’s financing and development schedule.…

Fintech platform BluPay has entered the Cameroonian market with a WhatsApp-based service designed to facilitate cross-border payments using blockchain technology and stablecoins. The platform was officially launched in Yaounde on August 15, making Cameroon the fifth African market in which the company operates. Its other markets are Ghana, Kenya, South Africa and Mauritius. BluPay also says its infrastructure enables users in these African markets to receive payments from European countries, the United Kingdom and the United States. Unlike conventional financial applications, BluPay does not require users to download software from the App Store or Google Play Store.…

Cameroon has awarded six contracts worth a combined CFA3.77 billion to rehabilitate 136.3 kilometers of rural roads in the Adamawa region, part of a broader program designed to make it easier for farmers and livestock producers to reach markets. The contracts were awarded under the Rural Development Project for the North and Adamawa Regions, Rural Infrastructure Components I and II (PDR-NA-IR), according to tender results published by the project’s coordination unit. The work is expected to take 15 months and includes repairs to unpaved roads, construction of bridges and other structures, and measures to prevent erosion.…

Alios Finance Cameroon has extended its CFA13 billion bond offering to Sept. 10, giving the lender more time to secure investors as it seeks to raise 44.4% more than it actually obtained from the Central African regional market last year. The subscription period had been scheduled to close Aug. 7 after an earlier extension, company officials contacted by Investir au Cameroun said. Alios Finance has not disclosed how much has been subscribed so far or the specific reasons for the latest delay. Without those figures, the extension alone does not establish that the offering has failed.…
