Description

The Project to electrify 317 localities with solar - preparatory phase aims to increase renewable energy access and catalyse private sector investment for rural electrification in Togo. It contributes to a) provide financing and technical assistance to help the GoT set-up a series of Mini-Grids project companies to support Togo for the development of the GMG projects, into which it will be able to invest an equity contribution to the projects together with private sector, and b) provide technical assistance to both build capacity at the project executing authority, AT2ER, and ensure successful project implementation. The outcomes attributable to this intervention include are: seed capitalization secured for the (Mini-grid) project companies bringing confidence to the private sector developers; strengthened public sector capacity to implement PPP business models with emphasis on productive use of energy. The project is comprised of the two following 2 components: (1) Mini-Grids project companies structuring and capitalization support; (2) Capacity Building & Program Implementation Support, with two sub-components. This project primarily contributes to climate mitigation results. As such, 100% of the total approved amount is attributed as climate finance, of which 100% is dedicated to mitigation.
