As part of its ongoing efforts to improve the transport situation through its National Transport Strategy for the period 2011-2020, the Government of Chad has embarked on a major road rehabilitation program. With this in mind, the Chadian authorities have undertaken, with the technical and financial support of the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Development Bank of Central African States (BDEAC) and the OFID Fund (OPEC Fund) with a view to the construction and asphalting of the 72.3 km long Kyabé-Singako road and related developments. The Kyabé-Singako road asphalting project aims to open up the central and eastern provinces of Chad, with a view to their economic and social development; it will contribute to reducing poverty among the populations and improving the local and community economy. The project contributes to climate finance, with 14 million USD of the total approved amount dedicated to adaptation.
