Description

The Girls' Education and Women's Literacy Project (PEFAF) aims to promote equality and equity in access and quality of education for girls and functional literacy for women in Chad. It will help to increase the enrolment of girls in middle and general secondary and vocational schools. The project mainly concerns the rehabilitation/construction of two (2) schools (rehabilitation of the school complex in Amriguébé in N’Djamena and the construction of a new girls’ high school in Massakory (Hadjer Lamis). PEFAF includes to (i) provide the two (2) establishments with furniture, school supplies, pedagogical, scientific and digital equipment, drinking water, electricity through solar energy, a fully equipped and staffed school clinic, latrines, and computer and science laboratories; and (ii) improve the quality of education and training for girls as well as adult women mainly through greater mainstreaming of gender issues in the education programmes offered, strengthening of science studies, diversification of vocational trades to focus on job creation and socioeconomic integration of literate women. It will be financed with a UA 8 million grant from the Transition Support Facility (TSF). The five-year project will be implemented by the Ministry of National Education and Promotion of Civic Responsibility (MENPC), in coordination with partners active in the education sector in Chad, civil society organisations and youths.
