Description

The railway section is about 1,000 km long, running from Mtwara Port on the Indian Ocean to Mbambabay (Ameliabay) on Lake Nyasa, with spurs connecting to the mineral fields of Mchuchuma coal and Liganga iron ore mines in southwest Tanzania. Additionally, the corridor connects Tanzania with at least three other countries (Malawi, Zambia, and the DRC), which promotes the country’s economy and trade.
