Sudan - Boosting Agrifood Systems Resilience in Sudan

The Boosting Resilience of Agri-food Systems in Sudan (BOOST) project is a sovereign emergency investment operation in Sudan designed to strengthen food production, improve food availability, and create economic opportunities in the agri-food sector for women and youth. The project responds to the combined effects of armed conflict, climate shocks, internal displacement, disrupted agricultural supply chains, and severe food insecurity. It supports the recovery of cereal and legume value chains through climate-smart seed systems, improved agricultural production and post-harvest management, stronger market linkages, and targeted support to women- and youth-led agri-enterprises. The project is implemented by the World Food Programme (WFP) and combines funding from the African Development Fund (ADF) and the Transition Support Facility (TSF) Pillar I, using reallocated balances from cancelled operations, together with substantial in-kind contributions from CIMMYT, the Agricultural Research Centre (ARC), UN Women, FAO, and WFP. The total project cost is estimated at UA 72.715 million (about USD 99.52 million), including UA 52.846 million from TSF, UA 10.873 million from ADF, and partner in-kind contributions.
