The Job Creation through Youth and Women-led Micro and Small Enterprises Project is anchored on the Bank’s South Sudan Interim Country Strategy Paper (I-CSP) 2022-2024 whose only priority area is ‘agriculture value chain development for economic diversification and resilience’ and the strategic objective of improving institutional, human capacities, and a better enabling environment for value chain development. The Bank’s interim country strategy aims to support South Sudan to develop agricultural value chains to boost agricultural productivity, enhance food and nutrition security, diversify the economy, catalyze entrepreneurship, and create jobs. The Project is also consistent with the Bank’s Ten-Year Strategy (2024-2033) whose operational priority is on investing in young people and aims at supporting entrepreneurship and job creation with an emphasis on the role of the private sector. The project contributes to climate finance, with 3 million USD of the total approved amount dedicated to adaptation.
