SENEGAL - Water Valorisation for Value Chain Development Project – Phase 2 (Provale-CV2)

The satisfactory results achieved by the first phase of the Water Valorization for Value Chain Development (PROVALE-CV) project, which were greatly appreciated by the beneficiaries, have given rise to new challenges linked to the consolidation of the project's achievements, support for young and female agri-preneurs to optimize the value of their investments, and the need to offer similar opportunities to other project leaders and extend them to other communes and regions of intervention. A second phase of PROVALE-CV is therefore fully justified. In this context, a second phase of PROVALE-CV, known as PROVALE-CV 2, was selected as one of the Senegal Compact projects at the Dakar 2 Summit organized by Senegal and the Bank in January 2023. The Government of Senegal subsequently submitted a financing request to the Bank for this project, following which it obtained an agreement in principle to finance the project to the tune of 50.0 million euros. This project primely contributes towards climate adaptation result. As such 100% of the total approval is attributed as climate finance, out of which 100% is adaptation finance.
