Description

The city of Kigali faces urban mobility challenges, and the Kigali Transport Master Plan 2050 identifies potential solutions. The Kigali Urban Transport Improvement Project (KUTI) is being developed to address these challenges, focusing on upgrading junctions to improve traffic flow and make the city more inclusive for all modes of transport, particularly non-motorized transport. The project aligns with Sustainable Development Goals 9 (Industry and Infrastructure) and 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and supports Agenda 2063's priorities of communication and infrastructure connectivity, modern and liveable habitats, quality basic services, sustainable rural and urban mobility, and agricultural productivity and production. The project aims to improve road infrastructure to facilitate market access and traffic flow. The project primely contributes towards climate mitigation result. As such 100% of the total approval is attributed as climate finance, out of which 100% is mitigation finance.
