Nigeria - Nigeria Urban Water Sector Reform and Akure Water Supply and Sanitation Project — Nigeria

Overview

The proposed intervention is an ADB Loan of USD 104.2 million and an Africa Growing Together Fund loan of USD 20 million to the Federal Republic of Nigeria to finance the Urban Water Sector Reform and Akure Water Supply and Sanitation Project in support to the FRN in the implementation of the National Action Plan for the Revitalization of Nigeria’s Water Supply, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Sector. Project components include: (i) Water Supply and Sanitation Infrastructure development; (ii) Institutional development and capacity building and (iii) Project management. Outcomes are (i) Increased coverage and service level of WSS services in Akure city, and its environs (ii) Improved service delivery and commercial viability of Ondo State Water Corporation (ODWC) (iii) Improved personal sanitation and hygiene practices in Akure city and its environs and (iv) Improved capacity in meeting the National WASH targets through support provided by the FMWR to reform Urban WSS service provision in the States.
