Description

The Kandadji Programme Support Project is in keeping with the 2017-2021 Economic and Social Development Plan (ESDP) of Niger. The Kandadji Programme is a key component in regulating the waters of the Niger River and is one of the priorities of the Sustainable Development Action Plan (SDAP) for the Niger Basin. The program’s objective is to regenerate the river ecosystems and increase agricultural and energy production through the construction of a regulatory dam on the Niger River. The project will focus on implementation of the civil works on the dam and its ancillary structures, implementation of the Resettlement Action Plan in Phase A, implementation of the updated ESMP as well as project management and coordination. It will be implemented over a six-year period (2019-2025). The project will incorporate gender and youth employment in a crosscutting manner in all its components.
