Mozambique - Mueda-Negomano Road Project - Phase I

The present project aims to assist the Government in developing a transport masterplan that will guide the future plans for mobility and transport planning in the northern region of Mozambique. It will strengthen regional integration with Tanzania through the construction of Phase I (70 km) of Mueda-Negomano road project, which is currently a missing link on the spur into Mtwara corridor, through the Unity Bridge (built by the two countries and commissioned in 2010) over the Rovuma River. The project will include a major component on capacity building for the road sector. Also, and within the overall objectives of delivering sustainable and inclusive green growth, the project includes a uniquely designed program for increasing social inclusion of the local communities and preserving the natural assets of the region. At the current stage the proejct consists of the construction of 150km road link ffrom Muda to Nogomano, together with the construction of a OSBP between Tanzania and Mozambique.
