The Project for the Economic Empowerment of Women in the Shea Butter Subsector (PAEFFK) aims to contribute to the economic empowerment of women in the shea subsector and to increase their incomes. At a cost of about UA 5.6 million, and spanning a period of five years, PAEFFK will support the establishment and formalisation of 400 cooperatives as well as the improvement of the competitiveness of their products, both in terms of quantity and quality. The project will increase the knowledge of the target group of women involved in the production of shea butter. This knowledge will be consolidated and disseminated by the project coordination. The project will also support the various structures involved to enable them to better capitalise on the project’s benefits, particularly in the efficient and sustainable management and operation of the structures set up; the animation of training sessions, study trips and exchange of experiences. The project is structured around three components, namely: 1) professionalisation of rural enterprises specialised in shea-butter processing; 2) increased women’s production in term of quality and quantity; and 3) project management.
