Description

The proposed operation, Sustainable Development of the Abu Rawash Treatment Plant -Phase IV, contributes primarily to one of the three main priorities established by the Egyptian government in its new 2023 -2027 program, namely “promoting the green economy and achieving water, food and energy security”. Indeed, the project promotes the optimization of the use of water resources in a context of climatic vulnerability, generating positive impacts on their availability for production purposes (in particular, food and energy production) and paving the way for the use of renewable energies that help mitigate the impact of climate change. Increased water availability will contribute to climate change adaptation. The project contributes to climate finance, with 100% of the total approved amount dedicated to mitigation.
