The Emergency Aid Project in response to the cholera epidemic and floods is part of the African Development Bank's emergency support to countries in situations of ecological and climatic fragility. The Comoros was severely affected by the torrential rains and violent winds that occurred from April to June 2024. These extreme weather conditions led to flooding, significant material damage, economic losses due to the destruction of infrastructure and crops, as well as an increase in health risks, with a resurgence of cholera cases. The Directorate-General for Civil Security (DGSC) activated the national contingency plan and mobilized the fixed Command Post (CP) to enable humanitarian actors to carry out the first rapid multisectoral assessments in the mainly affected areas. Climate finance is not allocated to this project. Climate finance is not attributed to this project.
