Cameroon - Project to Build the Resilience of Communities and Coastal and Marine Ecosystems in the Gulf of Guinea (RCEGG)

The Project to Build the Resilience of Communities and Coastal and Marine Ecosystems in the Gulf of Guinea (RCEGG) is a pilot climate adaptation and environment project in Cameroon designed to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable coastal and marine ecosystems and the communities that depend on them. Using a landscape approach, the project will support ecosystem management planning, restoration of degraded terrestrial, mangrove and coral reef ecosystems, sustainable management of marine and aquatic biodiversity, and the promotion of climate-resilient and gender-sensitive community livelihoods, including fisheries, ecotourism, beekeeping and agro-sylvo-pastoral value chains. The total project cost is estimated at USD 40.30 million, including USD 9.43 million financed by the African Development Fund under the Climate Action Window (Adaptation Sub-window), USD 29.87 million in parallel financing from the Green Climate Fund, USD 750,000 from the Government, and USD 250,000 in beneficiary contributions. The project will be executed by the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife (MINFOF).
