The Emergency Project for Strengthening Agricultural Production Phase 2 (PURPA-BF-2) is a sovereign investment operation designed to consolidate and scale up the achievements of the first phase in order to enhance food sovereignty and resilience in Burkina Faso. The total project cost amounts to UA 77.969 million (approximately CFAF 60.043 billion). Financing is provided through a UA 42.45 million ADF loan, a UA 7.61 million ADF grant, and a UA 23.40 million Transition Support Facility (TSF/FAT) loan, bringing the total African Development Bank Group financing to UA 73.46 million, complemented by a Government counterpart contribution of UA 4.509 million (5.78%). The project is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal and Fisheries Resources (MARAH) through a dedicated Project Management Unit, in coordination with the Société Burkinabè d’Intrants et de Matériels Agro-Pastoraux (SOBIMAP). PURPA-BF-2 aligns with Burkina Faso’s National Economic and Social Development Plan (PNDES II), the Agropastoral and Fisheries Offensive (OAPH 2023–2025), and the Bank’s Feed Africa strategy under the Ten-Year Strategy 2024–2033.
