Overview

The Climate-Resilient Water and Sanitation Studies Project (PEA-CR) is a sovereign investment-preparation operation designed to produce the technical, environmental, social and procurement studies required for future drinking-water and sanitation investments in Burkina Faso. It notably prepares water-production centres and faecal-sludge treatment plants in several secondary cities.

The programme includes feasibility, preliminary and detailed-design studies, environmental and social assessments, hydraulic models and tender-document preparation. Explicitly documented operations include the Samendéni water-production centre in Hauts-Bassins, the Dapola water-production centre in Sud-Ouest and four faecal-sludge treatment plants in Kaya, Kongoussi, Ziniaré and Pô.

The latest African Development Bank implementation report identified is dated 6 June 2026, following a field mission from 20 to 22 May 2026. The project therefore remains in implementation and preparatory-study delivery.
