Description

In response to the human capital and jobs challenges, the Government of Benin Republic has adopted the Development of Skills for Employment In Priority Sectors – PHASE I (PDCESP-I) Project in a context where there is a significant job potential for which young Beninese need to be trained and qualified. This project fits with Benin’s endeavours to make skills development for increased human capital productivity one of its strategic priorities at the national and sector levels. The project has three main components: (i) renovation and extension of technical and vocational training infrastructure. The main aim is to increase the supply of technical and vocational training, with two sub-components. (ii) Secondly, improving the employability and professional integration of men and women. It aims to finance intangible catalytic investments (soft) to guarantee the sustainability of investments in infrastructure and teaching equipment, as well as the sustainable integration of trainees into the labour market. (iii) Finally, the last component concerns project management. The project contributes to climate finance, with 36 million USD of the total approved amount dedicated to adaptation.
