The project entails developing and asphalting the Djougou-PéhuncoKérou-Banikoara road which is 210 km long. This modern dirt road, which constitutes the backbone of the cotton roads network, is in extremely poor condition with geometric and structural features that make them ill-adapted to the volume of traffic, rainfall and topography of the area. At the regional level, the project road is the central link of Benin's transversal road axis and a shortcut for travel to or from northern Togo, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger and northern Nigeria. The purpose of this addendum is to use the EUR 9.40 million raised from the EU-Africa Infrastructure Trust Fund (EUAITF) by the Bank in its capacity as trustee of these resources for the project, in accordance with the financing plan agreed upon at project appraisal.
