Algeria - Technical assistance for the development of a national investment plan in blue economy

This intervention is related to the Technical Assistance Project for the elaboration of a National Blue Economy Investment Plan, focusing on fisheries and aquaculture. It was conceived within the framework of the emergence of a growth/blue economy, as a tool to place development on a sustainable path. This TAF-MIC technical assistance project is timely in contributing to the effectiveness of sectoral and public action and giving greater impetus, visibility and efficiency to the sectors concerned by marine ecosystems. The main expected results are: i) Elaboration of an updated inventory on the capacity of the infrastructure dedicated to the fisheries and aquaculture sector, ii) Preparation of technical sheets for each identified investment project with technical and administrative provisions, impacts, budget and financing mechanisms, iii) Preparation of an investment plan specific to the infrastructure supporting the fisheries sector, iv) Preparation of a practical guide to support professionals carrying out projects, v) Capacity building of trainers on the technologies and techniques of deep-sea fishing The proposed technical assistance will support Algeria in the preparation of its blue economy investment plan for the fisheries and aquaculture sector. In addition, this technical support will assist the country in the mobilisation of the necessary resources for the financing of the SNDPA, which will enhance the complementarity and synergy between this operation and those carried out/planned by the Bank and other technical and financial partners.
